Who Cares Which Celebrity Had Rhinoplasty Abroad?

After sharing some thoughts about cosmetic surgery in one of my recent posts, I started browsing the internet and reading about celebrities who have had work done - those who have admitted that they've been under the knife, those who continue to hide the truth, those who garner alot of attention because people can't seem to figure out if they have had surgery, and those who discretely go abroad for "vacation" in order to hide because they had rhinoplasty surgery. I even got to reading about the cost of rhinoplasty abroad and how more and more people are looking overseas for more affordable doctors.

Don't you just love the internet? You read one article and a few clicks and a couple hours later, you're not feeling very productive. Well, I can say that I am now very informed about celebrity plastic surgery...and I'll never get those hours back. Why have we become so obsessed with whether or not Brandy, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, etc. got a nose job?!?

Natural Remedies For The Cold and Flu

With the weather beginning to cool down, this is usually the time of year when many people catch colds or come down with the flu. I take my health very seriously and believe in holistic, natural medicine or remedies for whatever ails my body.

To my knowledge, I've never had flu shots - unless I got them during grade school. I got the flu once a few years ago, but it still hasn't changed my mind about getting a flu shot. I believe that a flu vaccine doesn't necessarily protect you from all viruses, plus I've read that you'll get just as sick as someone who has gotten the vaccine. Besides, I just don't trust what it is exactly that they put in these vaccines.

I've done some research on natural remedies for the cold and flu, so I want to pass on a few things that you can do if you feel yourself coming down with a bug...

Cosmetic Surgery More Acceptable in US and UK

Blue butterfly

As much as I preach about beauty being on the inside and that we should focus on loving who we are fully - wrinkles and all - I have to accept that people are going to do what they want, wear what they want, and get cosmetic surgery. As I've mentioned before, my attitude towards towards plastic surgery has changed.

In the U.S., we are accustomed to people going to a doctor to fix their appearance. It's acceptable and something that many people are not ashamed of. In other parts of the world, it's still taboo to talk about it and women feel embarrassed that they've had work done.

Timeless Jewelry

Icons of Heritage with Gucci

As a jewelry designer, I love and appreciate all types of jewelry. Although I do follow jewelry trends and believe that women should be creative and bold with their accessories, I also think that you should own a few timeless pieces - timeless, yet still unique. Sometimes you want your clothes to stand out more than your jewelry.

However, there are some types of jewelry that can stand out in a more subtle way. It's the type of jewelry that draws people in and entices them to take a closer look. Besides, I think you look more polished, sophisticated, and ageless when you wear quality jewelry.

I love the designs from Hot Diamonds with sterling silver - especially these Diamond Hourglass Earrings because they look like a pair of 8's (my favorite number) and the infinity symbol. I would wear the earrings with the Gucci outfit I put together above - a timeless outfit featuring timeless jewelry.

Tips For Effortless Looking Sexy Hair

Rita Hayworth's beautiful sexy hair

In a hairstyle rut? Need a quick way to bring a little sexy back to your life? Here are a few tips to create effortless looking sexy hair...

Give it a little tease - What's sexy hair without a little teasing? The right way to tease your hair is to make sure to add a little texture with volumizing mousse, texture spray, or root lift. It's also better to do it on a day when you don't wash your hair because your hair will be too slick. When backcombing the hair, make short quick strokes until you have the right height and fullness you want.

Here's a quick video that demonstrates how to easily tease/backcomb your hair...

Natural Beauty Spotlight: Laura Mercier

"I know today that appreciating your own beauty does not come solely from therapy, make up application, or plastic surgery- although these things can help. Rather, it comes from a little door that opens in our minds and helps us celebrate our differences and find pride in our uniqueness." --Laura Mercier

In a very quiet way Laura Mercier has taken the makeup world by storm with her cosmetics and natural outlook on beauty. When I was first introduced to her cosmetics, I knew that her brand would last the test of time. I mean, she's made quite an impression on a host of celebrities including one of my favorite natural beauties, Sarah Jessica Parker.

A Real Designer Watch

As someone who is involved in social media and spends enormous amounts of time online, I've seen many different styles and trends. Whether it's Instagram, Pinterest, other fashion blogs, Facebook, or Twitter, I find fashion inspiration everywhere. One thing I have noticed lately, though, is that it seems like everyone is wearing Michael Kors' watches. I have yet to see a fashionista wearing any other designer watches.

If you like Michael Kors watches, then hey, who am I to tell you what you should or shouldn't wear? I'm a big fan of his clothing designs and he can rock a black shirt like there's no tomorrow, but I just don't see why women are gaga over his watches.

Why not wear a watch that is fun or unique?

Things That Affect Your Self-Esteem

Woman looking in mirror

There are many things that affect our self-esteem. It could be the extra weight on our bodies, people who label or judge us, or certain things on our bodies that are unwanted or we think are unnecessary such as facial hair, back hair, or hairs that make us wonder...WTF?

For example, have you ever wondered what the purpose of underarm hair is? Well, I have, and I can't come up with an answer. All it does is annoy the heck out of me and I'm just embarrassed to raise my arms because I have coarse hairs that still show no matter how close I shave to the skin. For many years now I've been self-conscious about my armpits. I've tried waxing, but that's just messy. I've even gone so far as to pluck the hairs so they don't grow back as fast, but that takes forever. It's getting to the point now that I want to go see a San Diego laser hair removal specialist to help me remove these unwanted hairs for good.

Finding that Timeless Little Gem

Express Yourself Through Jewelry

For many jewellery lovers, turning a passion for wearing jewellery into a passion for collecting is a natural progression. Jewellery is such an important part of collectors' lives that they learn to appreciate it not just for the beauty of the piece overall, but for the silver, the diamond, the gold and all the other rare materials that make an earring, bracelet or ring. The pleasure of hunting for rare and collectible pieces of jewellery is another part of the experience of collecting. But how do collectors, particularly novices, tell a timeless investment from an overpriced dud?

Jamie Lyon

As I was watching videos of runway shows the other day, the Arisotle in me started to wonder how shows would look like in the future. How would the fashion industry be? Would fashion and beauty bloggers still exist? (I hope so!) If you've just graduated from high school and contemplating your future or you're just thinking about going on another path, what type of career should you consider for the long-term? I concluded that these three careers would probably still exist 50-100 years from now...
