Fall 2012 Fashion Inspiration: Menswear and more... Fall 2012 Fashion Inspiration: MenswearUp until recently I've spent most of my time browsing women's fashion sites for wardrobe inspiration. Of course, most of these fashion sites talk about the latest fashion trends for women and what celebrities are wearing, which is fine, but what I just want to expand your mind just a little bit today by offering some inspiration from menswear. Finding fashion inspiration from men is nothing new. Yves St. Laurent did that back in the 70's with the classic tuxedo suit, and many women have often found that wearing the "boyfriend jean" is much more fitting and comfortable than regular women's jeans. Then there's the iconic button-down shirt that's a staple for all working women worldwide. I've been reading that for this fall 2012, the menswear look for women is business and casual suits, but when has this never been a trend? Autumn CoolWith the leaves on the trees now having turned all the golds, rusts and browns, and bright colours of the autumn, it's time to turn to your wardrobe and review what you need to renew. Dresses are the big fashion story of the autumn and winter of 2012, with a glorious choice of looks and styles to choose from. The looks of the season - from Gothic to minimalist, from demure country chic to OTT lace and glitter – and hem lengths, ranging from maxi to the tiniest of mini skater skirts, give you an endless range of choice. If you're an organized wardrobe sorter, then your work wear is likely to come first to hand. Those dresses and skirts that looked so up-to-the-minute last year are likely to be less fetching when you review them in the light of the new trends. Fashion this autumn is perfect for that efficient-yet-fun look for the office. Sharply tailored peplum dresses in deep greys and russets with deep necklines can be brightened up with a pair of peep-toe stiletto heels. The line is sleek and subtle, with soft jersey material or draped cross-overs creating the interest. Hints are to team demure with fun, like the range of animal print dresses in the Oasis collection. Zebra patterns, snakeskin and exotic butterflies give pencil dresses an exotic look. Waists are cinched in with narrow leather belts, or emphasized by wide contrasting material belts with over-size buckles. More Recent Articles |
