5 Must-Have Basics For Fall Fashion

Must-Have Basics for Fall Fashion

Fall is just around the corner! I believe that it's never too early to start the hunt for those basic fall fashion items - especially with Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale going on right now. If you don't know, fall is my favorite season and I always enjoy curating the must-haves to add to your wardrobe.

Here are 5 fall fashion basics that I think every woman should own:

1) Pair of classic black boots - If you only own one pair of shoes for fall, this is it. You can wear boots with just about anything - dresses, jeans, and skirts. My favorite type of boot are the flat riding boots because they never go out of style. I have my eyes on this pair of Tory Burch leather riding boots...

2) Button-up sweater - This is one piece of clothing item I have for every season, but especially for fall. You could go for a striped sweater since stripes are supposed to be the trend for this fall 2012, but when are stripes not in? I like to stick to neutrals such as grey or olive-colored sweaters.

3) Fitted blazer - For those days when you want to feel polished and professional, a blazer will do the trick. I recently scored a deal on a really nice black blazer at a thrift store, but I would love to have this Rachel Zoe velvet blazer too...

4) Trench coat - Even here in California we get cool, rainy weather, so it's always good to have a trench coat handy. This is another item that looks good with any outfit.

5) Black or brown leather handbag - A nice, quality leather handbag can almost always take a cheap outfit and upgrade it to stylish status. If I had the money, I'd buy this Chloe satchel in a heartbeat...

Fashion Inspiration: Men's 2012/13 Fall/Winter Trends

Giorgio Armani Men's Fall/Winter 2012/13
Giorgio Armani

Every once in awhile I like to check in on the latest trends in men's fashion because it's just nice to gaze at well-dressed men to see if there's anything that I can incorporate into my own personal style. Well, ok, maybe that's just an excuse to look at well-dressed men! It inspires you to take your style up a notch, right?

Here are a few fall fashion trends for men that have caught my eye...

Relaxed tailoring - Finally, out with the skinny jeans! Designers like Giorgio Armani kept trousers loose, but luxe with a combination of wool and velvet. Meanwhile, Italo Zucchelli's collection for Calvin Klein included a camel-colored voluminous overcoat.

Headgear - As a fan of hats, I find that men who wear headgear to be very attractive. From berets to beanies and even top hats - they were all seen on the runways. I like the newsboy caps that were featured in the Burberry Prorsum show...

Tie Cufflinks Set From S Buckinghams
Classic suits - Every fall the designers offer up their version of the classic suit, and this fall we see suits in wool and velvet. I believe that a man's wardrobe is not complete if he doesn't own a classic suit. I'm thinking the Don Draper or Kobe Bryant style of suit.  However, even if you can't purchase a new suit, you could invest in accessories such as cuff links, silk ties, or scarves to make your old suit feel new again. Check out sites like
S Buckinghams, which have a great selection of men's accessories.

Bright colors - We are used to seeing men in black, greys, and blues, but according to Pantone's fall 2012 color report, colors such as rhubarb, honey gold, bright chartreuse, and tangerine tango will add a little pop to the traditional palette. You could still be sophisticated by adding these colors subtly via neckties, bowties, or scarves.

Of course, what's fashion without a little fun? As I was browsing through runway shows on YouTube, I came across Vivienne Westwood's show in Milan. When you watch the video, you'll find out why it gave me the giggles...

What are your favorite men's fall fashion trends?

Beauty Product Review: HAVVN DNA Skincare System

HAVVN DNA Skincare System

"I knew there must be another way to age; I want to be alive, I don't want to be eaten up from life at the age of 60. I want to have more, I want to have life at that age too."--Dubravka Pavelic, HAVVN Creator

Have you ever thought about what you would look like at the age of 60? Does it scare you? Well, it shouldn't. We've been led to believe that you will look old and wrinkly when you reach the golden years, but it doesn't have to be that way. When you feed your body good food and use the right beauty products, you can age beautifully and gracefully.

Just like Dubravka, I believe that everyone has a choice about how they age. She created the HAVVN skin care to reflect that belief. The HAVVN DNA system is a 100% all-natural cream that emulsifies oil and water without any harmful chemicals. Find out more about all the ingredients contained in this skincare line.

The line consists of a day cream, night cream, and an activating cream. I was also sent a sample of the cleanser as well as the toner. Because I like to keep my beauty routine as simple as possible, I only used the cleanser, day cream, and night cream.

I really liked the cleanser because it gets my face squeaky clean without any residue. Both the day and night cream have a slight citrus-y fragrance to it that I like. They also keep my face looking dewy.  All you need is a few pumps of the cream to cover your entire face.  I noticed that if I don't use the creams and just use a serum, my face gets dehydrated very easily, especially now during the summer.

My best friend definitely noticed a difference in my complexion. I hadn't seen her in a couple weeks, and she told me that the lines in my forehead are not as deep as they used to be and the sun spots on my face are fading. She wanted to know the secret... :) I didn't even think to take a before-and-after picture; I really wish I had.

Have you tried the HAVVN DNA system? I would love to hear about your experiences...
