Shopping with my best friend or my fiance can often be a challenge. Have you ever gone shopping and found something that you really like, but come to find out that it doesn't come in your size? Frustrating, right? My best friend is plus size, so when we go shopping together, she will often like the same styles that I do, and although the clothing would probably flatter her body shape, it will only go up to a certain size. We've shopped at trendy stores like Forever 21 that does offer plus size clothing for women, but the selection isn't that good. As for my fiance, he's a pretty tall guy who likes to wear oversize clothing. He does have the option to shop for big mens clothes at websites like www.onestopplus.co.uk, however, he's the type of shopper that usually likes to actually try before he buys. He also doesn't like to wait for something to be mailed to him. There are many people just like him who want that instant gratification! As I've mentioned before, it's great that there are more options for plus size women because of all the online shops nowadays. However, wouldn't it be nice if more buyers of brick-and-mortar department stores or boutiques were able to anticipate the styles of clothing that big and tall men or plus size customers would like and ask that manufacturers and/or designers offer those styles in bigger sizes? Is that too much to ask for or am I missing something here? How often do you really connect with a skincare or beauty brand? When I was at Cosmoprof Las Vegas last month, there were very few companies that stood out to me and Kelly Teegarden Organics was one of them. Everything from the company's booth display to the packaging of the products and Kelly's story truly resonated with me. Plus, I love purple and butterflies, so how could I not love this brand? If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you know that I'm all for using natural and organic beauty products. We know that many products nowadays have contributed to skin cancer, and if you have been diagnosed with cancer, you're more conscious about what you put on your skin and in your body. Kelly Teegarden took it a step further by creating her very own line of products with cancer patients in mind. I had the opportunity to try out the "The Royal" body lotion as well as "The Secret" facial cleanser. I love how the lotion makes your skin feel oh, so soft, and gives it a sun-kissed, healthy glow. It is made up of a proprietary blend of royal jelly, organic shea butter, organic essential oils, beta glucans, Vitamin D3 and multi-fruit extracts. When I put it on, I can't stop touching my skin and looking at myself in the mirror! Yeah, I just realized that sounds a little perverse and narcissistic, but something about this lotion makes you admire yourself. If a lotion can boost your self-esteem and confidence, why not? I've used many facial cleansers in my 30+ years, and KTO's "The Secret" cleanser is probably my favorite. So aptly named because I'm trying to figure out why I like it so much, besides the fact that it eliminates the need for eye makeup remover. Just wash your face and your done! Even mascara washes off easily with this cleanser. The KTO website has a wealth of resources and health articles. When I was in high school I had dreams of moving to New York, working on Wall Street, and having a wardrobe full of DKNY clothing. I was going to live the true urban life. None of that happened because the dream has changed. Well, except for the part about having a closet full of DKNY clothing. For a long time now, though, I have admired Donna Karan and her sense of style. Her Spring 2012 collection is no exception. The tribal prints that took over this year in the fashion world seem to have spilled over into spring as well. Here are a couple of my favorite looks from the show... View the complete Donna Karan Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection at Style.com One thing that I really like about Donna Karan's designs is that you can literally walk off the runway and wear these pieces as is. With this spring collection, it looks like Donna garnered inspiration from her travels once again. I especially love the oversized bangles and necklaces. As for Donna's DKNY show this past Sunday, it was called 'American Expressionist' for its West Coast meets East Coast aesthetic. I like everything from this show, of course -- especially the wide-brimmed floppy hats.
