Love. It's to be treasured and celebrated. Some celebrate love by spending quality time with each other while others celebrate love by giving gifts. I like to find balance by doing both. There's nothing more precious than looking into your loved one's eyes and seeing that love reflected back to you, but a gift can be an offering of love as well. I typically refrain from doing those typical Valentine's Day gift guides because, after all, do we really need more unnecessary clutter in our lives? However, this year I've opened my eyes to the realization that we do live in a physical world where material items can symbolize how much you care for the other person, and there's nothing wrong with that. If you're giving a gift that you know the other person will truly love and appreciate, then why not? My fiance and I like to give each other gifts throughout the year because we believe that love and romance should be celebrated not just on Valentine's Day, but on a regular basis. On rainy or snowy dreary February days, gold nail polish is the perfect remedy. I debated between red or gold for Valentine's Day, but I regressed back to when I was a young girl and my mother telling me that red nail polish was for "Jezebels". Well, gold nail polish it is. I do need to put that myth to rest one day, though.

Over at The Budget Fashionista they share the 2013 trend that is making its way around the fashion world. The photo above from Manrepeller's Instagram feed is evidence of this trend that has everyone expressing their fun and colorful side. From bold and flamboyant to brilliant and striking, the sunglasses of this year are the epitome of what fashion is all about. Sunglasses are one fashion accessory I can't do without, being that I live in Southern California. In a previous post I shared the collection that I have amassed, but the other day I did clean out the drawer that was full of sunglasses. I don't know why I held onto glasses that were scratched and broken, including a pair of wannabe classic Rayban aviators that have seen better days. The practical side of me tends to gravitate towards the boring black or brown sunglasses in classic shapes, so will I be adventurous this year and go for a little color? The glitz and glamour have taken center stage in New York because Fashion Week is here once again. It's the week when designers display their creativity and the celebrities are in full effect. It was once a passion of mine to document the latest from the fashion industry, but other interests took over - mainly, a focus on the balance between inner and outer beauty. Thus, the birth of this blog. However, that hasn't stopped me from spending a Saturday morning with a cup of mocha perusing the pages of Style.com to find fashion inspiration for next fall. Some will even be shopping for engagement rings, mustering up the courage to take that next important step in their lives. I have to admit that I have a love/hate relationship with diamonds and engagement rings. On the one hand diamonds represent such beauty and clarity. Just like all gemstones, they were put on this earth for us to enjoy and appreciate. Then someone decided to add even more value to diamonds and people began acting like crazy lunatics to find the most beautiful of them all. It's sad that people will kill for diamonds, but then there are people who will kill for a pair of shoes too.
