5 Ways to Save Time on Your Beauty Routine and more... 5 Ways to Save Time on Your Beauty Routine When it comes to getting ready in the morning, it seems as if there is never enough time to do everything we want to. This is especially true if you have kids who need help getting ready for school and breakfast to cook for the family. As someone who prefers a no-fuss beauty routine, here are some of my personal tips for saving time on your beauty routine... 1. Use 2-in-1 beauty products. Not only will you save time, but you'll save money too. Try a tinted lip balm that can double as blush for your cheeks. Instead of using a moisturizer, sunscreen, and then putting on foundation, use a tinted moisturizer that contains SPF. I also like to use my blush as eye shadow. 2. When it comes to shaving my underarms and legs, I am very lazy. Waxing at home takes time and can get a little messy too. You can try places like Urbana laser hair removal for specialized waxing services that keep the hair off for weeks. If you do go with laser hair removal, typically you will only have to shave your underarms or legs once a month versus shaving every other day. Another benefit of waxing or laser hair removal is that you'll have smoother skin. 3. Don't wash your hair every day. Washing and blow drying your hair every day uses up a great deal of time, plus it can lead to dry scalp. I usually wash my hair every other day. On those days that you don't wash your hair, try a quick and easy updo hairstyle like a ponytail or bun. 4. Don't wash your face in the morning. Your face doesn't get dirty at night, so just spritz your face with water or swipe your face with a cleansing cloth before applying a day moisturizer. 5. Skip the foundation. Use a bronzer and powder blush to add a little color to your face. During hot summer days, less makeup is better anyways. Give your pores time to breath and just let your face show off its natural radiance. The Latest Fashion Statement: Eyeglasses
Back in the day, wearing eyeglasses meant that you: 1) needed to see what you were reading or 2) you actually needed help with blurry vision. Nowadays, wearing eyeglasses is a fashion statement. The big "nerdy" glasses have been a trend for some time now. I find it amusing to see NBA players like Russell Westbrook sporting eyeglasses that match their outfits. Personally, I've been wearing the same eyeglasses for nine years now because I just haven't found a pair that I really like to replace them. I do wear them because I am nearsighted and as a fashion statement. They are DKNY "cat's eye" glasses that I will probably keep forever and put away as a collector's item in the future. As you can see, they give me that "smart teacher" look - at least I think they do! I have been wanting a new pair of glasses, so like I said, I've spent some time shopping around. Designer brands are pricey in doctor's offices, so I've found out about sites like ReadingGlasses.com that carry brands like Emilio Pucci, Donna Karan, Fendi, and Kate Spade, just to name a few. I especially like these stylish Fendi bifocal glasses... I also have my eyes on these Nine West tortoise-print frames... ReadingGlasses.com also carries the Clic brand, which offers a very unique style of reading glasses. They have a magnetic closure on the bridge with a wraparound neck band. The magnets are supposed to "click" into place and can withstand very strong winds. The website says they were tested in Harley Davidson wind tunnels with winds up to 143.75 mph. And when you want to take them off, all you have to do is separate the eye pieces and let them hang around your neck. Very different from the standard reading glasses you find in the pharmacy, right? Do you wear eyeglasses to make a fashion statement or because you have to? Or both? ====================== Make sure to subscribe via RSS or follow Beauty Is Within on Twitter and Facebook to stay updated! Good Health Is Inner Beauty What's more important than the latest anti-aging beauty product or those fancy Louboutin's? Hopefully your answer is being healthy :) Part of your inner beauty is making sure to take care of your body. I know I've probably said this a few times before, but I feel compelled to post another reminder... One of the things I've been working on as part of my beauty regimen is to be more consistent with exercise and eating healthy foods. I've made a commitment to work out at least three times a week. I've also been more conscious of the type of foods I eat and reading labels on packaged foods to make sure they don't contain toxins or additives. I have a few friends who currently have cancer and one friend who just passed away from cancer. Although there are many things that can be attributed to cancer, I'm pretty sure that the combination of eating unhealthy foods and lack of exercise is one of the main reasons so many people have cancer nowadays. High fructose corn syrup, nitrates, sulfates, hormones, and pesticides are essentially poisons that you're putting in your body. Think about the cumulative effects. Why do that to yourself? Remember that you are what you eat... My favorite markets to shop for food here in San Diego are Trader Joe's and Sprout's because they have a good selection of organic foods. I don't mind paying a little extra for organic because it's much cheaper than all those medical bills I could have in the future if I don't eat healthy. Eating healthy is not enough, though. To combat the stress we all face on a daily basis, we have to exercise too. I feel so much better even after a 10 or 15-minute workout. I've been really inspired by watching the Olympics these past couple weeks, so now I want to be extra fit and in shape. I took these pictures after running up and down these hills at a park by my house. I like the healthy glow I get after working out. Many of us have this mentality that exercise is just for losing weight, but you should look at exercise as a long-term "investment" in your health. The shirt I'm wearing is the Marika Dry Wik tee that I was sent to try out. I love that it soaks up my perspiration so that I don't have that icky sweaty feeling. Right now you can get 20% off all Marika Tek clothing by using promo code TEK20 (good through end of Sept. 2012) at marika.com.
