NuFace Trinity Review: Day 1

Carol Cole demonstrates NuFace trinity
Carol Cole demonstrates the NuFace Trinity

As I get older, I'm realizing just how important it is to start young when it comes to skin care. If I could give advice to my 20-year-old self, I would tell her to always keep your face moisturized and use the right skin care products. Another piece of advice I would share is to go to the spa for a facial at least once a month and invest in skincare technology like the NuFace trinity device.

One of the best ways to always look young - besides exercise and eating healthy - is to be mindful of taking care of your skin even before you start seeing all the lines, wrinkles, and sags. Just remember that everything you do now to your skin will have long-term effects.

Your face has muscles in it, and just like any muscle in your body, these facial muscles have to be exercised and renewed. What the NuFace device does is send micro-currents into your face to help regenerate the cells and restore the muscles to their original state while helping to reduce lines and even out the skin tone.

All this I learned from Carol, the creator of NuFace, who is actually from the San Diego area. She came out to the Hotel Del to demonstrate how the NuFace trinity works. I was also able to preview the new red LED light therapy add-on, which is set to be released on September 1st.

NuFace Trinity Device
Using the NuFace trinity is very easy and can be done everyday. Apply the gel over your face, glide the device over your face, and experience skin rejuvenation in minutes. It's been dubbed the "5 minute face lift" because of the instant results that many women have experienced, including myself. I like to use it on the arches of my eyes to give them a lift.

I haven't exactly been consistent with my use of the NuFace trinity. They say that you should use the device everyday for 60 days, then once a week thereafter. I keep saying that I'm going to use it in the morning after I wash my face, but there are days when I'm just plain lazy and other days when I'm rushing to get ready.

I do want to offer a thorough review of this device, so I'm making the commitment to use it everyday for the next two months to see if there is a significant change in my skin. So here is my before picture...

I will report again in 30 days with another picture. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, read more about the NuFace trinity...

Fashion and Beauty Blogging Isn't About Being Popular

A recent "off" day in the style department

A post by Jess of Feeling Stylish inspired this post...

When I first started this blog back in 2005, my intention was to inspire women to discover and enhance their inner beauty. I want women to know that it's their unique style, confidence, and how they take care of their bodies is what makes them beautiful. To this day, I still hold the same intention. That is my focus.

I've seen many other fashion and beauty blogs come and go. I don't know what the aspirations were with their blogs or why some bloggers stopped posting, but I can assume that they didn't get the readers that they had hoped for or they were not able to successfully monetize the blog.

Fashion and beauty blogging is not as glamorous as many people think it is. What we often see is the "big" bloggers who get deals with designers and high profile companies and we think that all we have to do is set up a blog and *boom* - instant success. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work that way. Blogging is just like any business. It takes work, but most of all it takes passion and commitment.

Sure, a blogger like me gets to post pictures wearing the latest fashion or beauty find, share thoughts, tips, rants, and get free samples, but there many aspects of fashion blogging that people don't often see such as dealing with body image, appealing to potential advertisers and partners, and then there's that 800 pound gorilla called the traditional fashion media and fashion industry at large who want you to uphold and submit to their standards of beauty.

There was a point in my blogging career where I almost "sold out" by always sharing celebrity stories and talking about what every other blogger was talking about in order to gain traffic. Although a high amount of readers and traffic would be nice, I don't ever want to lose sight of why this blog is here in the first place. I may not have the best photography or have a great blog design, but what I have are readers like you who want to read something different and be inspired to be beautiful not just on the outside, but on the inside too.

This post is not intended to discourage you from blogging about fashion and beauty if that's what you really love to do, but do remember that it's your blog and it's supposed to be fun. Don't get caught up in trying to please everybody and wanting to be like everybody else.  Just be YOU!

I do, however, understand the need to feel validated.  We want people to like our posts and we want to be featured on sites like StyleCaster, but life is not about being popular...It's about making a difference in the world.  Well, that's what I believe anyway.

So, what message do you want to share with the world? How do you want to use your beauty or fashion blog to inspire and make a difference in people's lives?

Stylin' at the Del Mar Horse Races

The weather has certainly taken a turn towards hotness in my corner of the earth. Well, for us San Diegans, it's hot! Even at the Del Mar horse racing track, which is only a block from the ocean, we could feel the sun beating down on us. The day called for a light, flowy outfit topped with a wide brim hat.

Anything light and airy is a must for any hot day!

The top is from Forever 21 and the wide-legged pants are from a small, local boutique (forgot the name). I've received many compliments on the pants. They remind me of the palazzo pants I used to wear back in the early 90's. I also wore them during my vacation in Sedona, Arizona a few months ago...

What do you like to wear on hot summer days?
