Pregnancy Beauty Tips and more... Pregnancy Beauty TipsSource: sidebysideblog.blogspot.it via Ele on Pinterest For the past few months I've been preparing myself mentally and physically to become pregnant so that my body will be healthy and in shape to carry a baby. I've been reading magazines, blogs, forums, and books about being pregnant and what to expect. What I've learned is that women go through many skin changes when they are pregnant, so I wanted to share a few of the most common questions regarding maternity beauty and the tips offered from the experts at Proctor & Gamble Beauty... How does pregnancy affect hair? Just as everyone's hair is different, pregnancy affects women's hair differently. Your hair may or may not change depending on your hormones and how you deal with stress. Dr. Lefkowicz, Head & Shoulders' global dermatologist, says that to maintain healthy hair, she recommends a well-balanced diet and making sure moms-to-be get all the necessary nutrients. Teca Lewellyn, a P&G Beauty Scientist, recommends switching your shampoo to account for the changes happening. She says, "If hair tends to get dry, switch to a moisturizing shampoo, or if it becomes curly, try switching to a curls shampoo. Just pay attention to how your hair changes and work with it." What does pregnancy do to skin? This is the area where women probably experience the most changes. I've read that some women go through the "mask of pregnancy" in which brown patches appear on the face. Other skin changes include dryness, itchiness, acne, and stretch marks. P&G Beauty Scientist Rosemarie Osborne says that many of these issues will resolve at childbirth. A baby on the way means limited time to focus on my makeup routine – how can I achieve an effortless look with limited time? I personally will still make time to do my usual makeup routine when I'm pregnant, but I'm sure there will be days when I will be lazy and tired and just want to do the bare minimum. I realize that as I get older, I require more sleep in order to function during the day. I also know that everyone is different and the amount of sleep necessary is different from person to person. Personally, I usually do not have a problem falling asleep or sleeping well at night. It's rare for me to wake up not feeling refreshed. I know that many of you have issues with sleep, so I wanted to share some of my tips to get some good rest... Listen to meditations - Calm music slows down your brain waves. One of my rituals at night before going to sleep is to listen to relaxing meditations. Do a search on YouTube for "relaxing meditation" and you'll come across tons of videos. Take deep breaths - The counting sheep thing never worked for me, but chanting "sleep" does. Inhale for a count of 5, hold for a count of 5, then exhale for a count of 5. As you inhale and exhale, say to yourself, "Deep sleep". Wear comfortable pj's - Wearing soft cotton pj's to bed makes me feel so cozy and comfortable. Matalan has a great selection of ladies pyjamas. I love all the polka dots and stripes! Lavender aromatherapy - Lavender has been used for many years to help people relax and go to sleep. Dab lavender essential oil on the inside of your wrist or on your temples. You can also try applying lavender lotion on your skin before bed. Read a book - I don't know what it is about reading in bed, but it puts me to sleep every time! The One Fashion Accessory I Can't Do WithoutWhat's the one fashion accessory that you can't do without? At the moment my bracelet collection continues to grow by the week. It used to be that I couldn't walk outside the house without putting on earrings, but lately I can't seem to do without bracelets. I blame the arm party trend :) My favorite bracelet right now is this gold rope bracelet by Lushae. I've been wearing it with another colorful woven bracelet I picked up at Forever 21. When it comes to creating your own arm party, anything goes. Think of it as putting together a collage of bracelets you love...or a unique piece of art. You could even have a party with just one bold piece! For inspiration, do a search for the #armparty hashtag on Pinterest or Instagram! ====================== Make sure to subscribe via RSS or follow Beauty Is Within on Twitter and Facebook to stay updated!
